Professional Development

The Dawson Professional Development Fund exists to support teachers’ aspirations to become the very best they can be. Dawson School encourages teachers to expand their knowledge of their subject areas and of pedagogy. The Fund supports course work toward advanced degrees; non-degree related course work that enhances a teaching area; workshop and conference participation, and enrichment programs, that enhance professional expertise.

DAWSON TEACHING FELLOWSHIP
Alexander Dawson School recognizes the remarkable talent, diverse interests, and outstanding commitment of its faculty and staff.  Throughout their careers, we seek to support the teachers, administrators, and other staff members who are dedicating themselves to the students and families of our learning community.  In addition to providing rewarding and meaningful work and an open environment of intellectual exchange, the school has initiated several programs to promote the health, welfare, and professional development of the faculty and staff.

Dawson partners with the Fellow by paying 50 percent of the costs of the degree program, up to $4,000 camp in each of two years ($8,000 total) as an outright grant.  The school also offers all Fellows and interest-free loan of up to $2,000 per year for each of the two years. In accepting the nomination for the Fellowship, the teacher commits to remaining at the school for two school years after completion of the program.
