Upper School

Students from all over Boulder County are attracted to Dawson by the wide variety of opportunities offered by its comprehensive educational program. Rigorous academics, challenging athletics, outstanding performing and visual arts, a rich array of community service opportunities, and an individualized academic and college counseling program are the hallmarks of the Upper School experience. In all curricular and co-curricular activities, participation is a crucial aspect of the Dawson experience. Numerous athletic teams, dramatic productions, instrumental and choral ensembles, student government, and a rich community service program offer each student the chance to find a rewarding niche in the Upper School. In addition, Dawson students enjoy the benefits of a strong experiential program, including annual fall class trips, a spring Winterim program, a spring senior retreat, and even summer opportunities.

Student

An academic/personal advisor works with students throughout their full upper school tenure and serves as a counselor, role model, and friend as well. Dawson's college counselor, working in concert with the director of studies and department heads, carefully charts a course that culminates in the widest number of options and eventually, the most appropriate choice of college for each senior.

Upon graduation from Dawson, students have completed a rigorous academic program coupled with a rewarding co-curricular life – and uniformly return to Dawson with the news that they have been academically, socially, and emotionally well prepared to succeed in college life.
