The arts are an integral part of education and life. While some students will find a life-long career or avocation in the arts, all students will develop greater understanding of self and others through the study of arts.
Dawson's vibrant arts program involves the entire community as both participants and spectators. Formal training brings the discipline, technique, and skills necessary to speak through artistic media. Because each of the fields of the arts gives a related but unique approach to communication, Dawson requires students to participate in a variety of arts classes. Further, the grading of arts classes serves to acknowledge that work in the arts requires creative thought, knowledge of information, skill building, and discipline that are fundamental to any pursuit in an academic environment.
