Speech & Debate

Communication in our everyday lives requires public
speaking skills on a number of levels. You need to be able to
persuade, inspire, explain, provoke, and pacify our friends,
families, schools, and communities in order to shape the
world in which we live. In this program, students will
begin learning how public-speaking skills can be fun as well
as useful. Storytelling, debate, solo-acting, oratory, and
impromptu-speaking activities will give students a chance to
practice and develop their communication skills. Students
should gain confidence, skill, and enjoyment as they develop
their communications repertoire.
