India


India is one of the most vibrant, fascinating, complex, and important countries in the world. On this trip, you will experience India’s fragrant street markets, learn basic Hindi, practice yoga, visit the famous Taj Mahal, watch a Bollywood film, and travel by train, bus, rickshaw, and elephant. In addition to spending two nights with a family in Jaipur, you will spend three days in a rural village, where you will help prepare Indian meals, attend an artisan workshop, volunteer with school children, and complete a service project. By the end of the trip, you will have learned about India’s many spiritual traditions and developed a deeper understanding of the second most populous country in the world.

If you are interested in the DGA trip to India this July, you might want to consider taking three weeks of FREE Hindi classes at CU in Boulder this June. Through a grant from the federal government, CU’s Center for Asian Studies will offer three weeks of intensive Hindi for 20 high school students who live in the Boulder-Denver area. If you take advantage of this opportunity, you will arrive in India with a foundation in Hindi and a better understanding of Indian culture.
