Jessica Mitchell
Head Coach Girls Basketball

With a resume that includes coaching stints on the AAU, high school and college levels, Jessica Mitchell took the reigns of the Dawson girls basketball program in 2011.

Her coaching resume includes varsity girls coach at Davidson Day School (2010-11), assistant coach at Wingate University (2009-10), graduate assistant coach at Augusta State University (2008-09), and head coach of Wilkes Diamonds 12U AAU Team (2007-09).

Mitchell graduated from Davidson College in 2007 with a B.A. in art history and earned her master’s in education from Augusta State in 2009. While at Davidson, she was a three-year starter for the women’s basketball team. During her senior year, she was elected team captain and led the team to a 23-9 record, the winningest season in school history.

Mitchell played four years of varsity basketball at Wilkes Central High School, and scored 1,990 points. She graduated in 2003, and was ranked the third best basketball player in the state of North Carolina and earned a McDonald’s All American nomination.
