Diploma-Seeking International Students
Dawson has a history of enrolling students from across the globe. We look for students who have strong academic ability, are interested in the challenge of studying abroad, and will become part of all aspects of our community.
Admission to Dawson for diploma-seeking students is based on teacher recommendations, an official record of present and previous academic work, TOEFL score, and interview (skype interviews are acceptable if a campus visit is not possible). Dawson School does not offer any English as a Second Language (ESL) support, and as a result, applicants must meet the following TOEFL score minimums for admission:
Grades 8 & 9: 85
Grade 10: 90
Grade 11: 95
We are pleased that you have decided to apply for admission to Dawson School. Please read the instructions below and follow the checklist in order to complete the application process:
The Application Form provides important background information and begins the applicant’s official file when submitted electronically and returned with the $75 application fee. This form should be completed by a parent or guardian of the applicant.
Student Statement (Application Sec 2)
This section, which must be completed by the applicant, provides insight into the applicant as a person and as a student.
Academic Recommendations (2)
These forms should be completed by the English and mathematics teachers at the applicant’s current school at the end of the first marking period and should be returned directly to the Dawson Admissions Office by the teachers filling out the forms.
Transcript Release Form
The Transcript Release Form should be signed and submitted to the applicant’s current school. Dawson must receive an official transcript of grades and standardized testing of at least the past two years, including the current school year, directly from the applicant’s current school.
International student applicants must take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). Please request that the test results be sent to Alexander Dawson School. Please note that we do not accept the SLEP test.
All students are required to interview as part of the admission process. However, if a trip to the United States is not planned, you are welcome to conduct your interview via skype.
