Day 1

After landing at BWI and meeting our amazing tour leader, Mary, a retired middle school teacher and veteran trip leader, the group headed to our first tour stop: the Jefferson and FDR memorials. This year, we are fortunate that the cherry blossoms peaked early, and on Monday, they were in full bloom along the tidal basin!

After our tours, the group spent time exploring and eating in Georgetown before heading back to the hotel to meet in small groups and check in about their days. We were all thankful to get a good night’s sleep after being up since 1:30 a.m.

Tuesday brings more memorial tours as well as visits to the Smithsonian museums.
