Sports Science

Day 1
The Sports Science group had a great day learning proper nutrition for student-athletes, the role of an athletic trainer, and how to tape ankles, and finished off the day at a rock climbing gym in Boulder. Colby Wolf, the performance dietitian who has worked with Division I athletes at the University of Colorado, University of Wyoming, and other high-level athletes, presented on fueling an athlete’s body before exercise, during competition, and for recovery purposes. Then, the group headed down to the Athletic Center to learn from Dawson’s own athletic trainer, Josh Lahnam, how to tape ankles properly. Everyone had a fun time practicing, but let’s just say we’ll leave the taping to the professional! In the afternoon, the group headed to the Boulder Rock Club to try their skills and techniques climbing all the challenging routes. It was a fun and exciting day!
