Day 3

Wednesday, March 20th. Today we spent the entire day at the Arvada Center for the Arts & Humanities, a non-profit multicultural facility with art galleries, music, dance, and theater spaces, as well as an amphitheater. We spent the morning participating in two-hour-long workshops. We learned the basics of stage combat and created mud cloth artwork. The history of mud cloth stretches back centuries to the heart of West Africa, particularly Mali, where it originated. This textile art form holds deep cultural significance, symbolizing the region’s history, rituals, and social identity. After lunch, we enjoyed an immersive theatrical experience of the Tony award-nominated musical Natasha, Pierre and the Great Comet of 1812.
