Dawson offers the opportunity for every student to participate and play in 15 interscholastic sports including lacrosse, golf, soccer, basketball, cross country, tennis, Boulder County’s only cyclocross program, and a national-caliber canoe/kayak team.
Attitude, responsiveness, commitment, effort, fitness, ability, and fundamental knowledge are at the core of Dawson athletics. The two cocurricular requirement is designed to encourage student participation in the Dawson community beyond the classroom while also promoting physical activity and competition as fundamental to healthy student growth and development.

More than half of the Upper School student body wears a Mustang uniform and for some, multiple uniforms, because of the opportunity to compete three seasons a year, creating well-rounded, and well-conditioned student-athletes. We also support athletes whose athletic passions are found off-campus.

Dawson is a member of the Colorado High School Activities Association (CHSAA) and competes in the 2A Mile High Conference. Several teams a year advance to postseason play and often compete for state titles.

Dawson boasts some of the nicest facilities in Boulder County with four soccer fields, two lacrosse fields, two baseball diamonds, two gymnasiums, six tennis courts, a weight room, full time trainer, cyclocross and cross country courses, all of which are often in demand and utilized by off campus organizations. In addition, we have a large Challenge Course, including a climbing wall and numerous features, used for athletics, experiential education, and summer camps.

Dawson is proud to have earned many conference, regional, state, and national championships. We produce seniors that look ahead to play at the next level in college and are ready to do so based on the quality of coaching and mentoring they have received here.
