Family Connection/Naviance

Family Connection/Naviance helps students and families to better prepare for the college admission process by offering college searches, resume development, and much more. Also, it serves as a database and portal for Dawson to send transcripts and letters of recommendations directly to colleges.

Seniors

Individual Counseling Appointments – Since every student has unique interests and talents, individual meetings with the college counselor are crucial. These meetings include reviewing a student’s essays, college list, applications, test scores, and more. Individual meetings with senior families occur periodically throughout the year.  

College Counseling Nights and Other Programs – Throughout the year, there are a variety of programs on topics like the application process, college athletics, college visits, financial aid and scholarships, test planning, and more, for seniors and families.

College Admission Representative Visits - Every fall, colleges from all over the world visit Dawson.  It is a great opportunity for seniors to explore school and meet college admission representatives.

Juniors

College Counseling Class - The college counseling class prepares second semester juniors for the application process, and provides structure and regular contact with the college counselor. 

Individual Counseling Appointments – Individual meetings with juniors begin in January and with junior parents in February and March. These meetings include creating a college list, determining the right “fit”, test planning, and much more.  

College Admission Representative Visits – Every fall, colleges from all over the world visit Dawson. It is a great opportunity for juniors to explore schools and meet college admission representatives.
