Immersion Program

Upper School students at Dawson have the unique opportunity to take their language skills to a more advanced level by participating in the school’s five-week World Language Immersion Program. Sophomores, juniors, and seniors in Level 3 or higher in their language classes have the option of living with a host family and attending high school for five weeks in either Spain, France, or China (2014). The Spain and France programs are two-way exchanges, which means that each Dawson student’s family will host the student’s Spanish or French sibling for five weeks in Colorado.

Dawson students typically leave three weeks before the start of Winterim and return on the last Saturday of Spring Break. This way, they miss three weeks of school instead of five. Spanish and French host siblings typically arrive two weeks after the Dawson students return.

How to Apply

The application process typically takes place in mid to late September, as students will need to know whether they are participating in the program before the Winterim registration deadline. To apply, students must fill out the application form, write a short essay, and interview with the selection committee.
