Speech & Debate

Founded in 2006, the Dawson Speech and Debate program has become one of the most sought after co-curriculars at Dawson, having grown from nine students that first year to nearly 40 members in 2012 and one of the most accomplished teams in the region in 2012.

Competitive events include public forum debate, value debate, impromptu speaking, extemporaneous speech, original oratory, creative storytelling, poetry, humor, drama interpretation, and solo and duet acting.

Dawson Speech and Debate has produced five Colorado State titles, all but one in Public Forum, and 16 top-four finishes.  Dawson’s 2012 CHSAA championship tandem also finished 11th at the National Forensic League Speech and Debate National Tournament, the world’s largest academic competition.
