About Us

Why Dawson?

George Moore, Head of School
Welcome to Dawson! I am glad that you have taken the time to learn more about our community. I am proud of all that Dawson offers its students and families and am confident that you will enjoy learning about many of the interesting and
exciting experiences the school provides.
Every day our Dawson School community demonstrates a lot of pride: From our kindergarteners to our 12th graders, we work, strive, play, and create, so we can live up to our commitment to be the best school in Boulder. It takes all of us at school and parents, too, to make this community the best it can be. Find out more about Dawson's educational and life-building opportunities by browsing our website.

While on our website, I hope that you are able to discover many of the characteristics that make Dawson a unique and challenging educational environment. Whether one’s interests lie in specific academic disciplines, global perspectives, experiential education, athletics, technology, the arts, engineering, or myriad other areas, Dawson provides opportunities for each student to specialize and to reach his or her individual potential while also developing skills that will allow all of our students to meet the challenges of a dynamic and complex world. These skills include collaboration, creativity, critical-thinking, and communication, and are complemented by an emphasis on character development and engagement in all phases of school life.

Our website paints a wonderful picture of life at Dawson, but it is only by visiting our 107-acre campus in Boulder County that one is able to truly appreciate the opportunities for personal growth and scholarship that our campus, our faculty, and our community inspire. You can call us at (303) 665-6679 to arrange a campus tour.

We look forward to seeing you soon.

When you ask Dawson students, parents, or alumni what sets Dawson apart, they will respond that it’s the teachers, and the relationships they have with them. The culmination of how well Dawson teachers know their students is captured during the annual Senior Honoring Ceremony, a tradition that takes place the day before graduation.
