Speech & Debate
Founded in 2006, the Dawson Speech and Debate program has become one of the most sought-after co-curriculars at Dawson, having grown from nine novice students to over 40 members and one of the most accomplished teams in the region in 2015. Speech and Debate competes as part of the Colorado High School Athletics Association (CHSAA).
Competitive events include public forum debate, value debate, impromptu speaking, extemporaneous speech, original oratory, creative storytelling, poetry, humor, drama interpretation, and solo and duet acting.
Dawson Speech and Debate has produced numerous Colorado State titles, including three first places at the CHSAA 2015 State Festival — Public Forum Debate, Original Oratory, and Impromptu Speaking — marking the first time Dawson has taken three firsts in a single year.
