Hawaii Winterim 3/23

Today was another great day in Kauai. The team got to work in the Limahuli Garden itself, with one of our tasks being to weed a terrace that Dawson students helped rebuild in 2019. The terrace is an ancient terrace that likely dates back 600-800 years to when this valley was densely populated. It was partially uncovered in a landslide in 2018 and Limahuli Garden decided to restore it to its likely original purpose.

This afternoon was also our last day paddling with the Hanalei Canoe Club. After four afternoons learning some of the nuances of outrigger canoeing today we did some racing. Every day we have had paddlers from the canoe club joining us and we have all enjoyed spending time with them!

Photos include alumni building the terrace in 2019 and the Terrace after weeding it today.
