Below you will find a list of the myriad of ways you can get involved, create connections, and support the Dawson School community. Each volunteer opportunity listed has a brief description and timeframe of commitment —-so you can gauge what volunteer avenue would be the right fit for you.

Faculty/Staff Appreciation: School year
This beloved, feel-good committee provides tokens of gratitude to the Dawson faculty and staff throughout the school year. Volunteers help determine and orchestrate a gratitude-plan-of-action. – And wait till you see the SMILES!
DawsonFest: Fall event
This is one of the DPA’s biggest events of the year and takes place on Dawson Homecoming weekend. We offer a carnival complete with games and attractions, a mix of other fun activities that vary year to year, festive food items to enjoy. Volunteers help plan the event, manage the food and games, and ensure BIG FUN!!!
The “Stang” Concession Stand: School year
Help run the DPA Concession Stand (a.k.a. “The Stang”) located in the Dawson Athletic Center lobby. The Stang services the Dawson student community with delicious after-school snacks and also is open during various Dawson sporting events. Volunteers are needed to organize parent and student volunteers and maintain the delicious inventory.
“Stang” Helpers: Anytime
The DPA Concession Stand relies completely on Dawson Parent volunteers. Volunteers set out the snacks, interact with the kids, make change, count, and tidy up. –A bit of direct business experience for you and your student helper!

Dawson Cares: School year
A new committee, providing Dawson families (parents and students) with volunteer opportunities throughout the year to help our community. All parents and all students grades K-12 will be able to participate in the events in different ways. Committee members are needed to help play monthly events, be a liaison between Dawson and select local charities, and encourage families at Dawson to volunteer together.
Holiday Coffee and Market: early December event
Assist in planning and executing a community building, festive event during early December.
Dawson Arts Champion!: School year as needed
Would you like to be involved with helping the Arts Department? Perhaps you’d like to offer your time to work the box office for the theater productions, provide food for the hungry cast & crew during tech week, utilize your makeup skills to help students get into character? How ’bout helping to hang art for the student art shows or hang display art in the Lower School? The Arts Department would be delighted to help expand your artistic impulses! 
Dawson Spirit Wear: School year
This fun committee works as a team dedicated to spreading Dawson School spirit! Help determine student and parent Spirit Wear needs, choose fun product for online, store and event sales and find novel ways to spread the Dawson spirit throughout the school community.
Gift Card Program: School year
A major revenue source for the DPA, supporting all of the DPA initiatives including DawsonFest, the Holiday Coffee, the Faculty/Staff Appreciation Breakfast, to name a few! Volunteers are needed to get the word out and facilitate the purchase of these cards online and at certain DPA initiative events.
The Farm to Table Dinner: Fall event
Imagine a magical evening with friends, enjoying a sumptuous meal by renowned chefs, including locally sourced food and premium wines and beer, watching the sun set from the beautiful Dawson campus.
Library Assistance: School year
Assist Tina Edelein with Upper/Middle School Learning Commons or Carolyn Parker with Lower School Library needs. These may include: shelving or processing books and helping with the K-8 Annual Book Fair, which provides funding for needed library materials.
Sunshine Club: School year
The DPA Sunshine Club acknowledges various events that occur in the lives of people in the Dawson community by sending an appropriate card or acknowledgement. If desired, we offer to organize meals or other means of support for our Dawson friends in need.
Dawson Spring Auction & Gala: Spring event
This is the last Dawson Community event of the year and packs a huge fundraising-punch! While enjoying great friends over food, music and drinks, proceeds from the night’s admission ticket, as well as silent and live auction sales, greatly benefit the school. Come help choose a fun theme, party plan, work with the solicitation or sponsorship teams, help with creative marketing and the essential dance-party playlist! The Spring Auction team is made up of enthusiastic school staffers and energetic volunteers known to throw a dynamic and beneficial evening of fun—please join us!!
Parent Classroom Representatives: School year
This essential position enables you to have a deep connection to the school administration, classroom teachers, and your class parent community. Your role is to be the lead community builder and communicator for the parents in your child’s classroom. You will convey information you receive from the administration about various school happenings to the parents. You will help organize a Fall Parent Potluck for the grade to initiate classroom community building. You will work with your child’s teacher to support the needs of the classroom. You will make an effort to welcome new students and families to your classroom community. You will be on the inside track with what is happening at Dawson on a macro level and be able to direct parents to the appropriate staff members to get their questions answered. This important, vital and enriching role makes the Dawson experience extraordinary. Thank you for your consideration.

Dawson Parent Association Board Member: School year
Join the DPA leadership team to gain a larger insight and have a huge impact at Dawson! Positions include: President, Vice President, Secretary, Upper School Coordinator, Middle School Coordinator, Lower School Coordinator, Treasurer, Assistant Treasurer and Volunteer Coordinator.
