NICK THOMPSON PARENT SERIES Mondays 6:30-8:00 p.m. September 11 - October 16 Upper/Middle School Library BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND: Dawson's Counselors' Corner has invited Nick Thompson, Boulder-based social worker specializing in youth and teens, to lead a parent discussion group on six Monday evenings, starting next Monday, September 11, 6:30-8:00 p.m. in the Upper/Middle School Library. Come to one, come to all six, but mark your calendar and make as many as you can: You'll be glad you did. Many Dawson parents will tell you how helpful, affirming, and actionable each discussion will be. First up: Starting off on the right foot Oftentimes, motivation is high at the beginning of the school year. We have grand hopes and aspirations for how things will be different this time around. However, we habitually don't end up making the changes needed to show up for our children in the ways that we had hoped. The school year moves quickly, so before we get too far into this journey, we will consider what intentional efforts we are willing to make to allow for a more balanced and productive school year. Also, we will discuss ways to help support our children in developing positive habits and routines that can remain in place when the days are colder, and shorter, and motivation is running low. |
