No Place for Hate Club Launches New Initiative in Lower School
This year the No Place for Hate (NP4H) club has launched a new initiative to visit Lower School classrooms and lead activities around diversity and inclusion.
Below are some photos from our visit to the Kindergarten, where Elsie H and Olivia B designed an art activity to address the questions around identity, specifically focused on the questions:
1) "Am I unique?" 2) "Am I the same as other people?"
3) "Who am I?"
Exploring similarities and differences provides a foundation for students to demonstrate understanding and respect for others.
Next up, NP4H students will be doing a read-aloud activity & discussion with the 1st grade in two weeks.
Winter Clothing and Holiday Gift Drive for A Precious Child
Dawson Cares invites you to participate in two winter drives.
We will collect coats, hats, boots, sweaters, etc., for all ages (children and adults). In addition, there will be carpool lane drop-offs in the lower and middle school parking lots and collection bins in the Lower School, Middle School, and Henderson lobbies.
Dawson Cares will also be sponsoring gifts for 60 children for the holidays. Once the website has been created, families can go online to select a child to support and either bring the gift to the school or ship it directly to our partner organization, A Precious Child.
The winter clothing and children's gift drives will kick off on November 14 and go through December 2. This will give families a week before Thanksgiving and a week after to participate.
